A 40-year-old man was found fatally injured lying on NH-33 along Jhabri village under Chowka thana area of adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district early on Tuesday.
Spotting the injured party, the patrol party rushed him to Chandil Hospital where he was declared brought dead by the emergency room doctors.
It was suspected that the deceased, who was wearing a 'lungi' and inner wear, died after falling from a moving vehicle. He had severe head injuries and one arm was broken. As the body has not yet been identified, police are trying to identify it to determine the cause of the victim's fatal injuries.
"It follows from the condition of the deceased that it was not an accident. He must have been the victim of some foul play. Hence, we are trying to identify the body,” Chowka thana OC Abhishek Pratap said
The OC said they made many villagers to come to the hospital for body identification, but none of them could do it. He pointed out that they are moving the body to the MGM Medical School mortuary where it will be kept for 72 hours with the expectation that someone will come forward to identify it during that time.
